KTM bankruptcy: 3,600 jobs in danger-Christmas mood Adé!
The motorcycle industry in Austria is on the abyss: The traditional manufacturer KTM has filed for bankruptcy and is faced with a mountain of debt of 1.8 billion euros. The situation not only brings the company, but also the approximately 3,600 employees in great uncertainty. On Monday, important company meetings took place at the headquarters in Mattighofen (district of Braunau), in which the employees were informed about their rights in the crisis. How Today.at reported, there was an "gazing mood" in the meetings. A total of around 350 and around 250 employees were present in the morning.
Intensive conversations and uncertainty
In the coming days, employees will face further information talks with experts from the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor, who are on site to help employees apply for the insolvency fee fund. "Above all, the employees ask how to proceed and when they receive their money," said Mario Moser-Luger, trade union regional secretary, in a conversation with Vol.at. Bittersweet: It can be expected that the salary payments for November and the Christmas bonus will not flow from the bankruptcy administrators immediately, but only after up to six weeks.
In order to accommodate the employees, the KTM management is planning to pay for December wages within the next few days. The labor market service (AMS) and the state of Upper Austria have also announced that it will negotiate solutions in a round table in order to offer support for the employees affected by the bankruptcy. However, a specific date for these discussions is still pending.
