Jakob Leitner receives the Silver Medal of Honor from the State of Upper Austria for outstanding local supply

Jakob Leitner, who has been running the Spar headquarters in Marchtrenk for 24 years, recently received an outstanding award. On September 28th he was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Upper Austria. The recognition was based on his services to local supplies and the creation of jobs in the region.

When State Governor Thomas Stelzer presented the award, he praised Leitner's contribution to the attractiveness of Upper Austria as a business location. Leitner began his career in the family business after joining the Wörgl headquarters in 1979 as assistant to the logistics manager. In 2000 he finally became managing director of the Spar headquarters in Marchtrenk.

Under Leitner's leadership, sales revenue in Upper Austria tripled and the number of employees increased significantly. In addition, the sales area of ​​the locations doubled. His commitment contributed significantly to the success of the supermarket chain in Upper Austria and the western Mostviertel.

Today, Spar employs around 11,500 people in Upper Austria, including 409 apprentices, spread across around 280 locations. The region is also home to important facilities such as the regional headquarters in Marchtrenk and a Tann meat factory. Through his remarkable professional career, Leitner has made a significant contribution to further development and innovation in Upper Austria.
