Tulln Taekwondo: Gold and silver for strong performances at the championship
The Tulln Taekwondo community won impressively at the Vienna State Championships. With a total of 18 medals, including four gold ones, the fighters can look back proudly on their achievements.
The first gold medals went to the cadet team, consisting of the brothers Johannes and Matthias Lehner together with their colleague Michael Fitz. Gudrun Predota from Tulln also won a gold award in the category of young women over 40 years old. Particularly impressive was the victory of Vivien Majcan, who triumphed in the shadow fight in the LK 2 female cadet category and prevailed against 11 other participants. David Gugenberger secured the gold medal in the junior class up to 33 kg.
Lots of silver for Tulln athletes
In addition to the gold medals, the Tulln team also won 10 silver medals. This was viewed by some as “a lot of silver, if not gold.” The pair and team competitions in the shadow fight were particularly eye-catching. For example, the couple Marija Bojanic and Luigi Gligoric in the student class LK 2 as well as the cadet duo Vivien Majcan and Nadiia Voroshylova achieved outstanding places. In the team competition, Gudrun and Simon Predota also won silver together with Arina Ilyk. Matthias Lehner also achieved another silver medal in the individual Poomsae competitions.
In the full contact fights, several other athletes also made a decisive contribution to the success: Rafael Brcerevic (student -33 kg), Vira Voroshylova (cadets -55 kg) and Nadiia Voroshylova (student -40 kg) were all able to win silver.
Coaches show themselves proud
Chairman Dietmar Brandl was enthusiastic about the team spirit and the training progress of the athletes: "After a long time, we were able to accompany our athletes on the mat again. I was particularly pleased with the synchronicity in the pair and team competitions, and we managed to stay focused in the full contact fights despite long waiting times." Brandl thanked all the trainers, coaches and the numerous fans of the Tangun family for their support.
With the end of the championship season, the next challenges are already upon us. The exams for the Tulln taekwondo athletes begin in November, starting with the BAMBINI exams, followed by the exams for students, teenagers and adults in December. This ongoing progress speaks to the commitment and dedication of the athletes and coaches who want to continually develop.
