25 years of the year of life: a festival for families and nature

The celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the life of the life of the life on Brunner Berg attract numerous visitors every year. On a sunny day in October, families and friends met to celebrate this special tradition, in which each child receives a tree that grows into a full tree over the years. The participants from the first vintages were able to convince themselves again how their trees grown and now almost grew together into a small forest.

Mayor Andreas Linhart and municipal council Dieter Zelber (both SPÖ) expressed their joy about the sustainable tradition: "We are very proud of this tradition, which has already survived for a quarter of a century. A nice sign that we, as a market town, can inspire our young citizens and families with this idea."

The celebrations

The traditional year of life picnic took place on October 6th, in which the trees of the years 2022 and 2023 were presented. The red foses of 2022 and the Eberesche of 2023 were the focus of the event, and all children of these years were invited to the ceremonial tour with their families. The event not only offered an insight into the growth of the trees, but also numerous activities for the youngest visitors.

After a warm welcome by Dieter Zelber and Mayor Linhart, the guests were able to fortify themselves at the buffet. A bouncy castle was also built for the children, which gave a lot of joy. In addition, local researchers Robert Krickl shared his extensive knowledge of the local plants and trees with those present. This contributed to the formation and maintenance of the little guests and made the event varied.

“A great event that the numerous visitors were very taken with," summed up the community lead. Such occasions not only strengthen the community, but also promote connection to nature and your own home. With the presentation of these trees from recent years, the idea of sensitizing and inspiring future generations is carried out.
