Pioneer: Friedrich Diekhof receives merit cross for home care

Detmold. A remarkable moment in the history of Pivitsheide V. L. took place recently when Friedrich Diekhof was honored for his long -term commitment in home care with the Cross of Merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. District Administrator Dr. Axel Lehmann pronounced during a solemn ceremony. The district administrator emphasized that Diekhof has tirelessly contributed to preserving local history over many years and capturing memories for future generations.

Diekhof's commitment extends over five decades, during which he not only worked on an active member, but also in various offices in the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Pivitsheide V. L. and belonged to the extended board until the beginning of this year. His initiatives and projects have had a lasting influence on the village community.

A model for the community

Friedrich Diekhof not only campaigned for the preservation of history, but also actively worked on the development of the location. His role in the renovation of the mill pond in 2004 is particularly noteworthy. When a resident refused to give up his share in the embankment areas, Diekhof made part of his own property available. This enabled the renovation of the pond, which is now cultivated by a group of volunteers, which is initiated and coordinated by Diekhof. Due to its suggestions and design plans, the surrounding area could be significantly upgraded.

Another impressive project was the rescue of the mill wheel of the former Kohlpötter Mühle. When the original mill wheel was no longer restored, Diekhof implemented its ideas and had a new mill wheel made of oak wood, at exactly the place where an identical wheel was previously in operation. This measure testifies to its persistence to preserve historical elements and to keep tradition alive.

Creative redesign and documentation

In 2013, Diekhof again appeared as a planner when he designed the design plan for the redesign of a former cemetery into a public meeting and memorial. A tree teaching trail was also created under his direction. In addition, his idea of gaining banking sponsors to finance the renewal of over 80 resting benches in town was an innovative step that was very approved.

After the dismantling of the Catholic Church "Heilig Kreuz", Diekhof gave the place a new memorial by securing the church bells and taking over the planning and design of a bell monument. This initiative made it possible to maintain the memory of past times in Pivitsheide.

In addition, Diekhof emerged as a specialist for archive and village chronicle by establishing an extensive club archive on the history of Pivitsheide in his own home. In cooperation with the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein, he also published two illustrated books that provide valuable insights into the history of the village.

His incomparable commitment in home care is supplemented by his active membership in the workers' welfare in the Pivitsheide local association, where he also works for the well -being of the community. He does not know complaints about fulfilling his tasks; It is a matter close to his heart for him, which was also rewarded for him by the recent award with the Cross of Merit.

Diekhof honors not only his personal commitment, but also the importance of his work for the village community. His work remains an exciting chapter in the history of Pivitsheide V. L. and is an example of how communal engagement can keep the values and cultures of a place alive. For more information about the honor and Diekhofs activities, See the report on www.lz.de.
