Flood protection projects in Wullersdorf successfully completed: LH-Deputy. Pernkopf is investing 1.9 million euros for security in Immendorf and Schalladorf

With the completion of a new flood protection project in Wullersdorf, the KG Immendorf settlement area will be effectively protected from flooding in the future. The project, whose construction began in autumn 2023 and has now been completed, includes the construction of a two-part retention basin with a total volume of around 10,000 cubic meters. This measure will protect around three hectares of settlement and infrastructure areas as well as 200 residents from flooding in the event of a hundred-year flood (HQ100).

LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf emphasized the importance of the projects upon completion: "The recent heavy rain events have shown us how important investments in flood protection are. With the projects in Immendorf and Schalldorf, we have created a sustainable protective measure that protects the population from future flood risks and further increases safety in Wullersdorf."

The construction project, with a total cost of 1.21 million euros, was financed through funds from the EU, the federal government and the state of Lower Austria, which contributed 196,000 euros. The market town of Wullersdorf is responsible for 20 percent of the costs amounting to 242,000 euros. In addition to flood protection in Immendorf, another project was completed in Schalladorf, which also contributes to safety in the region. This includes a bridge and a retention measure with a total volume of 710,000 euros, of which the state of Lower Austria contributed 284,000 euros.

"These flood protection projects are an enormous benefit for Wullersdorf. The safety of our citizens is our top priority, and with the new measures we will be better prepared against floods in the future. These projects are an important contribution to making Wullersdorf safer," concluded Mayor Richard Hogl.
