Bicycle-friendly footpath and cycle path connects Waidendorf and Velm-Götzendorf

The municipality of Dürnkrut in the Gänserndorf district has completed another walking and cycle path project to improve road safety. After the Waidendorf-Ebenthal and Dürnkrut-Apfelweg Part 1 projects had already been implemented, the Waidendorf-Velm-Götzendorf connection has now been realized. The existing path was made accessible to cyclists over a stretch of around 500 meters.

The pedestrian and cycle path was expanded to a width of three meters and provided with a shoulder of up to 0.5 meters on both sides. The work was carried out by the company Pittel+Brausewetter in a construction period of around eight weeks. The costs for the project amount to a total of 115,000 euros, with 70 percent being borne by the state of Lower Austria and 30 percent by the market town of Dürnkrut.

The communities of Dürnkrut, Ebenthal and Velm-Götzendorf belong to the school association. The market town of Dürnkrut has the goal of connecting the school association's communities with bicycle-friendly cycle paths. The next section between Waidendorf and Dürnkrut along the state road L 11 and the Dürnkrut-Apfelweg Part 2 are scheduled to be implemented in spring 2025.
