New musical education center in Zeillern Castle: Tradition meets modern!

Schloss Zeillern, 3361 Amstetten, Österreich - Zeillern Castle in the Amstetten district was officially opened on June 15, 2025. The governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, took part in the ceremonial opening of the new musical education center. In addition to an impressive event hall that offers space for up to 400 people, the center also includes a large sample hall and modern training rooms. In combination with an expanded hotel and catering operation, these elements should enable versatile use.

Overall, the investments of around 8.5 million euros amount to the 4.2 million euros from the state of Lower Austria. The project was implemented in cooperation between the state, the municipality, the Lower Austria Blasmusikverband and the Kultur.region.niederösterreich. With this establishment, Zeillern Schloss becomes not only the education and cultural center, but also a tourist magnet for the region.

The vision behind the project

At the opening, Mikl-Leitner emphasized the important connection between tradition and modern architecture design. The managing director of the center, Martin Lammerhuber, referred to the facility as a cadremith for brass music and regional culture. In particular, the center will also support the music school area, regional choirs and other cultural institutions, which underlines the existing importance of Zeillern Castle as a competence center.

In this context, brass music is emphasized as an integral part of the Lower Austrian state identity. Both the renovated premises and the newly designed event area are designed to sustainably strengthen the cultural diversity in the region and to preserve the cultural heritage.

Financial support and future plans

For the general renovation of Zeillern Castle, the state of Lower Austria grants funding of around 1.4 million euros, valid for the years 2023 to 2025. The decision on this funding was taken on the initiative of Johanna Mikl-Leitner. The aim is to establish a musical educational center for regional culture that places a special focus on brass music and choral singing.

architect Thomas Tauber explained that the renovation of the historical building not only preserves the cultural heritage, but also offers the opportunity to meet modern requirements. The focus is on creating an anchor point for various artistic disciplines that meet the needs of brass music and the choir scene.

The important achievements of the opening also include the presentation of the "reliable real" badges to the community, the musical education center and the brass music association. Mayor Friedrich Pallinger was grateful for the support of the country and the patience of the residents during the construction work.

Overall, the new musical education center in Zeillern Castle shows how tradition and modernity can work together in cultural promotion in order to create a lively and inviting environment for artists and cultural workers. With this center, a significant step in the direction of greater promotion of regional culture has been successful.
