Mostviertel Festival 2025: Kapuzinerplatz becomes a cultural zone!
Scheibbs, Österreich - On June 17, 2025, the Mostviertel Festival took place in Scheibbs. On this special day, the Kapuzinerplatz in the city was converted into a meeting zone. Organized by the city of Scheibbs in cooperation with Scheibbs.Imppul.Kultur, the “Freiraum Kapuzinerplatz” project pursued the goal of establishing this place as the center for social and cultural activities. The initiative is part of a larger cultural framework that extends over the entire Mostviertel.
The Mostviertel Festival itself runs from May 16 to July 20, 2025 and is organized by the cultural networking of Lower Austria. A total of 48 art and cultural projects are planned, which include a wide range of offers. These include music, visual arts, dance, photography and performance. Under the motto "Dei 'Culture, be' culture, her 'culture ... a lot of culture", which was set to music by the artist Sigrid Horn, numerous participatory projects also take place. The governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasizes the importance of regional culture for identity and traditions.
variety of cultural projects
The festival is not bound to certain genres or places and reflects the variety of regional culture by combining tradition with the new. The venues extend between Türnitz and Traismauer as well as between Eichgraben and St. Valentin. The comprehensive program includes brass music, electronic sounds, films and festivals as well as the opening on May 16 in Amstetten with artists such as Sigrid Horn and Lou Asril. The crowning glory will take place on July 20 in Haag with appearances by Quetschwork Family and Da Blechhauf’n.
The selection process for the projects was unique; It was not determined by an artistic direction, but over 150 projects. This contributes to the fact that the festival reflects the wide range of cultural forms of expression in the region and also integrates new perspectives.
cultural participation in Austria
Participation in cultural offers plays an important role in society. According to the “Cultural Participation” report of statistics Austria, the data situation is based on extensive surveys that cover various aspects of cultural practices and participation. This includes the time use of time, consumer survey and the EU-Silc, which records the visit of cultural events. These statistics not only show how and where people in Austria are culturally active, but also the social relevance of such festivals and events.
The initiatives, such as the Mostviertel Festival, not only contribute to enriching cultural life, but also strengthen social ties within the community. The festival converted the Kapuzinerplatz into a vibrant place of encounter and exchange, which is in agreement with the goals of cultural networking in Lower Austria.
