Metlen cheered: record turnover and impressive growth in the energy sector!
Metlen Energy & Metals
Metlen Energy & Metals published its financial figures for 2024 and achieved record values in EBITDA. The chairman Evangelos Mytilineos proudly announced an EBITDA of 1.08 billion euros, which corresponds to an increase of 7 % compared to the previous year. Sales rose to 5.68 billion euros, an increase of 3 % despite falling energy prices. The energy sector, in particular the renewable energies, lifted the group to these records. Unlike in 2023, the natural gas price is currently subject to a decline of 16 %. (( Market screen )))
Growth through investments
One highlight was the massive expansion in the area of renewable energies, which led to an increase in profitability by around 45 %. This happened, among other things, through a geographically diversified business strategy that also includes projects in Greece and internationally. In addition, the partnership with Rio Tinto was announced, which is of crucial importance for the building and clay production. This strategic alliance is intended to increase security of supply and sustainably improve profitability, which strengthens Metlen's competitive position.
The company also recorded exciting developments in the metal sector. Despite a decline in sales by 9 % to 857 million euros, the EBITDA was increased by 20 % to 297 million euros. The average aluminum price increased noticeably, which is due to the increased demand and provider bottlenecks. These market movements allow metlen to strengthen its position among the leading European aluminum producers, while at the same time reacting to the important challenges of the market. (( Ots )))
