Katharina Liensberger surprises with bronze at the 2025 World Ski Championships!
A memorable day for Austrian skiing: Katharina Troupe triumphs with a sensational first World Cup victory in the slalom in Åre, Sweden! After a solid first run in which she took sixth place, the Carinthian catapulted herself into first place in the second run with an impressive time of 1:42:08. Mikaela Shiffrin, previously the half-time leader, had to settle for third place, missing out on her 101st World Cup victory, while Troupe also celebrated its first women's slalom victory at this point since 2022, as klick-kaernten.at reported.
But Troupe's success is not the only highlight of the day: Katharina Liensberger's brilliant performance at the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm earned her the bronze medal in the slalom. After the first round in second place, Liensberger was 1.32 seconds behind the Swiss winner Camille Rast and thus secured third place, while Shiffrin disappointed again and only finished fifth. Liensberger, who triumphed at this event a year ago, is once again showing her great talent ski1.at reported.
Important results and medals
The women celebrated historic successes with a double victory, the last time 13 years ago! For Troupe and Liensberger, this is a milestone that not only underlines their individual success, but also the strength of the Austrian women's ski team. Troop showed tremendous nerves in the second run, while Liensberger successfully fought for the medal despite her lying on her back and thus made an important contribution to the Austrian ski team.
