Ice 8s in Wels: Free ice skating from January 10, 2025!

The Wels EIS-8erbahn will open its doors again on January 10, 2024 and promises ice-cold fun on 800 square meters of real ice right in the city center of Wels. This beautiful figure-8 ice skating surface attracts around 15,000 visitors annually, an impressive 70% of whom are children. Thanks to the support of numerous sponsors, entry remains free for all ice skating fans on weekdays this season. This was made possible by the intensive acquisition of sponsors by Welser Christkind GmbH and Wels Marketing & Touristik GmbH, says Peter Jungreithmair, Managing Director of WMT.

An unforgettable winter experience

The EIS-8erBahn offers the opportunity to glide in a wintry atmosphere every day from January 10th to February 18th, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. During a short ice break from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the time for the next run will be used optimally. There are special times for schools from 9:30 a.m., but these must be registered in advance. Regular admission prices apply on weekends: six euros for adults and four euros for children. In addition, ice skating fans can try out Stöckln – a special form of ice skating with special high-heeled shoes – on weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Another highlight of this season is the sustainable energy strategy, which will also be applied in 2024. The pumps and units for ice production are controlled more efficiently, and operation is temporarily stopped during the night to save energy costs. The EIS-8erBahn is not only a platform for ice skating, but also a place for gathering and togetherness.
