New mortuary in Langental ceremoniously inaugurated
IIn the small town of Langental, not far from Oberpullendorf, an important building was opened last Sunday: the newly built mortuary. This celebratory blessing marks an important step for the community, which has been concerned with the desire for its own farewell place for some time.
Numerous personalities were present at the opening ceremony, including Mayor Martin Karall, who looked back on the history of the project, and Chaplain Stjepan Lukašević. Vice Mayor Christina Köppel and the master builder Gerhard Köppel were also there, as were the state party chairman of the ÖVP Burgenland, Christian Sagartz, and Monika Trimmel.

In his speech, Mayor Karall recalled the 2016 referendum, which represented a decisive turning point. In this survey, 67 percent of citizens were in favor of the construction. This clearly showed that there was a widespread desire for a mortuary in the locality to enable the deceased to say a respectful farewell.
The need to build our own mortuary was not only a practical decision, but also an emotional one. The residents of Langental wanted to create a place that met the needs of the mourners and treated the deceased with respect. There are already such facilities in many communities, and now the residents of Langental can also look forward to a dignified culture of mourning.
The opening was accompanied by a blessing ceremony, which gave guests and those in attendance the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new facility. It is a facility that not only offers mourners a space for their final farewells, but also strengthens the sense of community in the place.
“It is very important to us that everyone here finds an appropriate place to say goodbye,” said Chaplain Lukašević during the ceremony. Designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, the mortuary is intended to be a place of comfort for loved ones.
With the blessing of the new mortuary in Langental, another important step in improving the town's infrastructure has been taken. With this building, the community has not only responded to the needs of its residents, but also created a place that expresses gratitude and respect for the deceased.
