Bureaucracy costs animals life: fawn died after an accident!

Today, on April 29, 2025, animal welfare in Lower Austria is again the focus of the criticism. The veterinary center Teesdorf (TMZT) has published alarming reports about inefficient animal rescue. The organization urgently demands support to overcome bureaucratic hurdles and to save animals in need faster. The call for help came due to a shocking incident in the Kaltenegger wildlife catching station, where a seriously injured, highly pregnant deer was found after a suspected car accident.

The responsible hunter undertook desperate attempts to save the two unborn fawns. An zookeeper and a volunteer team set off with medical equipment as soon as possible. Unfortunately the help came too late; The fawn lived only a few moments after the salvage from the dead mother animal.

Catastrophic waiting times and bureaucratic hurdles

The approach of the emergency team took 26 minutes. With flashing lights, this time would have been reduced by 8 to 10 minutes, which might have ensured the survival of the fawn. The TMZT has been committed to faster animal rescue for years, but sees itself confronted with bureaucratic hurdles based on a regulation of the state traffic department from 1994. Despite the frequent commitment of many animal rescue organizations, there is hardly any support from politics.

The situation in Lower Austria is not unique. In many crisis areas worldwide, like them National Geographic is often described, animals are often victims of violence and neglect. In war zones, animal rescue organizations are committed to rescue and medical care for animals, with employees often risking their lives.

Voluntary work in crisis areas

Another example of the animal welfare lived can be found in "Notpfote Animal Rescue e.V.", a non -profit association that is led by Tom and Babette Terveer. The association acts not only in Germany, but also in many other countries, including Ukraine, where animals are in need due to war. The Content Creator Malte Zierden has also acted actively in animal welfare and contributed to the evacuation of an animal shelter from the war zone. His commitment led to donations for the construction of a new shelter that will offer space for 300 dogs and cats.

The new animal shelter is being built according to European standards with a strict hygiene concept to prevent the spread of diseases. Many animals are currently suffering in crowded kennels, where sick animals cannot be isolated, which leads to increased deaths.

The TMZT's information regarding the inefficient animal rescue in Lower Austria throws a light on the challenges that animal welfare organizations face in many regions. In addition to the urgently needed support from politics, these organizations also need solidarity and commitment to society in order to give needy animals a more fair chance of survival. The appeal that "Bambis" should not die, but the possibility of rescue is becoming more and more urgent.
