Blood donation campaign in Graz: Save together to save after the killing spree!

Trainingszentrum Messendorf, Sternäckerweg 118, 8042 Graz, Österreich - In the last few hours, the Red Cross has started an urgent appeal for donation. The Federal Rescue Commandant Gerry Foititik points out that the inventory is at a critically low level and that support from the population is now more necessary than ever. AMOSLauf victims in Graz urgently need help, even if Foitik emphasizes that donated blood can not only benefit the current victims. Many patients in Austria rely on blood transfusions. According to puls24, at least ten people were lived after the rampage at the Borg Dreierschützengasse school, and a few more twelve were difficult injured.

In order to strengthen the blood reserves, the organizers have launched a blood donation. This will take place on June 11 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Messendorf training center, Sternäckerweg 118, 8042 Graz. The football club SK Sturm Graz actively participates in the campaign and is committed to mobilizing the population. Monika Stickler, department head of the emergency services, emphasizes the need to increase the supplies, since many injured people are expected to need operations.

Details about the blood donation

like OE24, people aged 18 to 70 years and who meet the legal requirements are entitled to donate blood. First donors should not be older than 60 years. Interested parties must have an ID card and should find out in detail on the website www.blut.at.

For the donation, it is usually planned for about seven minutes, in which around 450 ml of whole blood is removed from the arm vein. After the donation, the blood goes through various safety tests to ensure quality. In addition, a blood donation card is issued after the donation, which contains all relevant information from the donor.

Health aspects of the blood donation

It can be important to find out about the physical effects of a blood donation in advance. After the removal, a donor should take a break of at least 30 minutes. Heavy physical work or exhausting activities should also be avoided on the day of donations to minimize health risks. After the blood donation, the blood is divided into components - this includes erythrocyte concentrates, which are often referred to as "blood pans", and plasma.

The current campaign of the Red Cross shows how important the willingness to donate blood for society is. The population is called up to actively help through this simple action and at the same time make their own contribution to improving health care in Austria. Each individual can save lives through their donation.
