Movement for everyone: New ORF format motivates pupils for activity!

On June 6, 2025, the initiative "We move Austria School" was presented in the Vienna School GrG10 Ettenreichgasse, the students: interior and teachers: Inside should motivate more sport and movement. In his opening speech, ORF general director Mag. Roland Weißmann emphasized the essential role of motivation for sport in childhood and youth, which is also part of the ORF public mandate. The promotion of a healthy lifestyle is the focus of this new initiative, which is active throughout Austria.

The event was accompanied by well -known personalities, including Hans Niessl, President of Sport Austria, and Mag. Peter McDonald, chairman of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund. Niessl emphasized that the initiative supports the daily movement unit (TBE), which has a positive effect on health, concentration and well -being. McDonald added that regular movement is a central building block for the health of the children and the offer in particular is supposed to promote physical activity in everyday life.

a comprehensive range of movements

The initiative includes 30 episodes of the format "We move Austria School", which will be broadcast on ORF Sport + undorf on on Demand from Monday to Friday at 9:00 a.m. from Monday to Friday at 9:00 a.m. The consequences last 6-8 minutes and focus on various movement aspects such as strengthening, skill and coordination. Sports teacher Karin Wildeder presents the units while professional tennis player Nico Langmann appears as a guest. The daily movement unit is freely accessible for all participants: no special requirements for gymnasium or sportswear are placed.

The initiative "50 days of movement", which is carried out in cooperation with Fit Sport Austria, is another central measure. This series of events takes place from September 7th to October 26th and offers free movement events throughout Austria. The highlight of the initiative is the national holiday on October 26, in which all Austria: in the inside is actively called up for participation.

urgency of movement in society

The need to motivate children and adolescents to move more regularly is now undisputed. According to the "Austrian recommendations for health -effective movement", which are published by the Fund Healthy Austria, children should be physically active at least 60 minutes a day. However, only 20 % of 11 to 15 year olds in Austria meet these motion recommendations, which is why the initiative is particularly important.

The Sportunion supports the daily movement unit, which is considered a model for the mental and physical health of youth. Recently, ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick emphasized the importance of a daily movement unit in order to promote the health and development of children. In addition, experts in Austrian sport warn of possible cuts that could endanger the project. However, an expansion of the project should not take place at the expense of the sports clubs.

The increase in movement in school is not just a question of fitness; It also influences the academic achievements and the general well -being of the children. A lack of movement is increasingly recognized as a risk of chronic diseases, and positive experiences in various sports are decisive.

The initiative "We move Austria School" shows how important it is to accompany and support children and young people on their way to an active lifestyle. The starting shot has been given and it is to be hoped that the efforts of recent years will bear fruit.
