This resulted in life-threatening injuries, which were exacerbated by a high alcohol content of 1.6 per mille in his blood.

After the accident, the man managed to drag himself off the train tracks and call for help. Neighbors of a nearby house noticed him around 7 a.m. and immediately alerted the police. As a result, train traffic was stopped and the professional fire department opened the noise barrier to give rescue workers access.

The incident in Vienna highlights the dangers of traction current, which can reach up to 15,000 volts. The topic is not new, as another incident at Neudietendorf train station shows, in which a man was also seriously injured after exceeding a minimum distance from the overhead line.
