A kayaker swallowed by a whale: This is how Adrián Simancas survived!

A shocking experience occurred off the coast of Punta Arenas in Patagonia: kayaker Adrián Simancas was swallowed by a humpback whale and emerged shortly afterwards unharmed. His father, Dell Simancas, filmed this incredible adventure last Saturday as they paddled a yellow kayak together in the Strait of Magellan. The whale suddenly appeared, opened its huge mouth and surrounded Adrián and his kayak for a few seconds, which was captured in a viral video snippet. The moment Adrián disappeared into the whale's mouth, his father shouted: "Relax, relax, I'm coming!", while the 24-year-old shouted to him: "I thought he had swallowed me," as before oe24.at reported.

In an interview with TVN, Adrián said that he saw nothing other than images in blue and white that passed close to his face. He had a terrible fear that the whale might have “eaten” him. His first fear set in when he resurfaced, fearing his father might also be in danger. But fate was on their side; both remained physically unharmed. Maria José Pérez, a marine biologist at the University of Chile, explained that humpback whales are unable to swallow humans because of their small mouths. The whale probably didn't even notice the kayak, as it was living in a feeder with krill or fish, like stern.de reported. Such incidents are extremely rare.

The excitement of the situation was captured live by Dell Simancas, and the footage clearly shows how quickly nature can intervene in human life. Despite the carefreeness and joy of a relaxing kayaking trip, this incident left them with an unusual story that they will certainly never forget. While such encounters between humans and animals raise many questions, the memory of the moment Adrián emerged from the whale's mouth remains unforgotten.
