The new da Vinci robot is specifically used in gastrointestinal surgery, gynecology and procedures on the adrenal and thyroid glands. Philipp Riss, the head of surgery at the clinic, explains that during thyroid removal, small incisions above the nipples, in the armpit fold or in the lower lip are used to minimize scarring. This technology enables the procedures to be carried out precisely and leads to less pain and faster recovery for patients.

Technical innovation and modernization projects

The investment in the new surgical robot is two million euros. Eight surgical robots are already in use in Vienna, and Michael Binder, the medical director of the Vienna Health Association, has announced that all clinics will be equipped with this technology in the future.
