On July 23, 2025, a brazen theft occurred on the busy Mariahilfer Straße in Vienna-Neubau, in which two perpetrators stole a five-figure sum from a 55-year-old man after a bank withdrawal. The incident took place at lunchtime when the victim was at a store. After the theft, the perpetrators fled.

According to police, the theft occurred right after the victim made a bank withdrawal. The thieves appear to have acted deliberately and knew that the man had a large amount of money.
