Masked men in Lensengericht: Police catch fleeing suspects!
A remarkable incident occurred early Saturday morning in the quiet community of Linsengericht-Großenhausen, which both put the police on alert and left them guessing. A witness observed three masked men moving suspiciously around a residential area around 12:30 a.m. and immediately informed authorities. This led to a rapid police response, but it had far-reaching consequences.
The masked men were spotted apparently trying to sneak around houses unnoticed. However, after realizing they had been discovered, they fled in a white Iveco van. The police received the tip and immediately started looking for the getaway vehicle.
Escape and arrest
The police patrols discovered the crime vehicle soon afterwards, but instead of following instructions, the men continued their escape along Autobahn 66 in an easterly direction. This led to several dangerous situations as they ignored traffic rules. The escape attempt ended in Wirtheim, where the police finally arrested the two suspects, a 42-year-old man and a 26-year-old passenger. However, a third inmate was able to escape undetected, but investigators already have initial clues about him.
The arrest of the two men was not without incident. During the incident, a stationary patrol car was damaged as the suspects attempted to escape from their getaway vehicle. When searching the car, officers found a balaclava, which was confiscated. It also turned out that the 42-year-old had drugs with him and was carrying a large amount of cash. It is also suspected that he was driving under the influence of drugs and did not have a valid driver's license.
Investigations and possible consequences
After their arrest, the two men had to be taken to the police station where they face further action. The older man in particular is facing criminal proceedings for endangering road traffic, driving without a license and violating the Narcotics Act. His apartment was also searched on the orders of the public prosecutor, with the police looking for further evidence.
So far it remains unclear what the men in Großenhausen actually planned. The police spokesman has already asked for help from the public. Witnesses or people who may have further information about the incident are asked to contact investigators on 06181 100-123. Not only the police, but also the public is interested in clarification.
The events raise questions about the men's motives and intentions. The police will do everything in their power to uncover the background to what happened, and the investigation will continue in the coming days to shed light on this nighttime escape.
