A comprehensive drug ring was revealed in Vienna-Ottakring on September 24, 2025. In a targeted arrest, the police grabbed a 43-year-old North Macedonian citizen who was caught in Flagranti with a large contingent cocaine. The operational group to combat street crime (EGS) carried out the arrest at around 8:15 p.m. after observing suspicious handings that indicated active addictive substances. When searching the suspect and his apartment, the police secured a total of 3.1 kilograms of cocaine - a value of around 300,000 euros on the street market - and almost 9,000 euros in cash.
The arrest is in the context of the continuous efforts of the Viennese police to fight drugs with drugs. According to the Kosmo, around 25,000 people have arrived in Vienna due to drug offenses. The EGS Vienna consists of four specialized teams with 80 civil servants, two groups of whom concentrate on addictive crime. A total of around 570 kilograms of hard drugs and 6.2 million euros in cash have been secured since the unit was founded.
