Carinthia in motion: The new 10,000 Challenge starts now!

The initiative "Promote Health, Move Carinthia" under the direction of Health Councilor Beate Prettner will go into the next round in 2025 with an exciting and diverse movement program. Already on Saturday, February 15th, the program starts with a winter evening hike to the Koschutahaus. The aim is to motivate the residents of Carinthia into an active lifestyle and to emphasize the importance of exercise for health. Prettner recalled that the WHO recommends completing moderate movement per week at least 150 minutes, but this is a challenge for many adults. "Movement is the basis for a healthy life," said Prettner in a press conference, as well as from ktn.gv.at reported.

A highlight of the year is the introduction of the "10,000 Challenge", which is carried out in cooperation with the Naturfreunde Carinthia. This challenge motivates the participants to collect 10,000 meters of altitude within one year, whether hiking, climbing or cycling - without electrical aids. "Every activity can be recorded online and in the end there is a finisher medal and a patch," said Benjamin Hell from Naturfreunde Carinthia. The initiative aims to advance health promotion in Carinthia and to strengthen the common motion experience, such as "https://www.klick-kaernten.at/123432025/kaernten-bieben-2025-starten/"> Klick-kaernten.at

Diverse program for all age groups

The comprehensive program for 2025 not only includes the hiking tours that take place in the course of the year, but also monthly bike excursions and the popular stand-up paddling workouts on Carinthian Lakes. These activities are designed in such a way that they are accessible to all age groups. Health promotion expert Sarah Pucker emphasized that the focus was on participation: "Being there is everything" - the performance should take a back seat. The Naturfreunde Carinthia again form a strong partner to offer the participants unforgettable experiences in nature.

With the connection between sport and community, the initiative hopes to improve the movement habits of Carinthians, not only to reduce the risk of health complaints, but also to promote general well -being. This perspective also lets climbing athletes Felix Mader have their say, which highlights the advantages of movement in nature and supports the initiative with its commitment.
