Healthy music school: new ways for students and teachers in Sindelfingen!
In Sindelfingen, the music school specifically pursues the goal of promoting the physical and mental health of students and teachers. With a fresh perspective on musical training, those responsible not only want to develop musical talents, but also want to raise awareness of health -promoting practices. Thanks to the support of the Hermann Fischer Foundation, crucial innovations have now been initiated.
The “Healthy Music School” project already had its roots in 2009 when it was launched in cooperation with the Freiburg Institute for Music Medicine. It is actively committed to reducing physical and psychological stress that musicians often experience. A central aspect of this approach is preventive health promotion that encourages students to learn techniques for coping with stress and optimize their posture. These measures aim to avoid long -term damage through overload.
Practical support for the new concept
To implement these health goals, specific materials were purchased that are integrated into the lessons: an anatomical skeleton to illustrate human anatomy, yoga mats and field roles. These aids help to illustrate exercises better and thus support learning.
The Hermann Fischer Foundation has provided the financial means to enable these important purchases that now serve as the basis for the health-oriented concept of the music school. Furthermore, a relaxation room is planned for the teachers, which enables them to withdraw and recharge their batteries. The implementation of the first concrete steps is set for November.
Another crucial factor for the success of the project is the commitment of the college. The newcomer is the trumpet teacher Sabrina Buck, who has music education skills and is also trained in the teaching for musicians yoga. At the annual teacher meeting, she presented the first health -promoting techniques and thus marked the start for the comprehensive implementation of the project, which focuses on both the physical and mental health of the musicians.
Another progress was achieved in September when Silke Lenssen-Weigold successfully completed her further training in the "Healthy Music School" area at Kapfenburg Castle. As a teacher for flute and in parent-child courses, she now has new ideas that are specifically geared towards the needs of the youngest musicians. Health promotion is also extended to young talents.
The team is also added by Monika Heber-Knobloch, who had been heading the Feldenkrais area at the music school for many years. This method is based on movement and breathing work, which aims to reduce tensions and increase body awareness. The Feldenkrais method considers the body as an integrated system, which can be brought into balance through targeted, gentle movements and is therefore an optimal addition to health promotion for musicians.
In summary, it can be said that the SMTT in Sindelfingen takes a significant step towards healthy musical education by not only the musical ability, but also the well -being of everyone involved. The introduction of the “Healthy Music School” project starts an initiative that could have a positive impact on the health and performance of students and teachers in the long term.
