Catherine, Princess of Wales, appears for the first time after Royal Ascot
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, visited a garden for well -being in the Hospital colchester on Wednesday. This marked her first public appearance since she unexpectedly canceled an event at the Royal Ascot.
Visit to the hospital garden
The princess visited the garden in the southeast of England to "celebrate the incredible healing power of nature", as the Kensington Palace explained. During her visit, she also met patients and the staff of the Cancer Wellbeing Center to understand how gardens in health institutions play a decisive role in promoting good health results, preventing poor health and support for a faster recovery.
Kate's health trip
Last year Kate, 43, emphasized the importance of nature in her healing process. "In the past year, nature was my retreat," she said in a video that was published on X for the week of mental health in May.
cancer diagnosis and return to the public
Kate announced her cancer diagnosis last March and that she had started chemotherapy. During her treatment, she retired from public life and rarely appeared last summer. In September she announced that she had completed chemotherapy and "do everything to stay free of cancer".
return to public duties
Despite her health challenges, Kate took part in more public appearances again this year. It is believed to be working on finding a balanced relationship between her obligations and her health while she returns to her public duties after her treatment.
previous events
Before her short -term cancellation at the ASCOT, Kate had participated in several engagements, including two important events in the royal calendar: the trooping the Color Parade in London and the service for the awarding of the Order of the Garden in Windsor.
a meeting on the Windsor Castle
Last week she resumed her personal appointments when she invited to a meeting in the Windsor Castle together with Prince William Melinda French Gates. According to reports, they discussed their philanthropic work, as the British news agency PA Media reported.
"Catherine’s Rose" in the Hospital
ColchestraKate's visit to the Hospital colchester fell together with the assumption of a donation of 50 “Catherine’s Rose” plants, a specially bred rose that was named in honor of the princess by the Royal Horticultural Society. She planted some of these roses, the proceeds of which are commercially donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
commitment to the Cancer charity
Since her diagnosis, Kate has been intensively involved in the charity. In January, the Kensington Palace announced that it was appointed a common patron of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This is the specialized cancer center in Chelsea, West London, where it was treated.
Support for cancer patients
The income from the sale of these roses is used to help the charity establish a special program that supports cancer patients to lead a good life with the disease, even after their treatment is completed.
