New community center Forum Silberbichl opened - a place of encounter!
In Mautern on the Danube, the new community center "Forum Silberbichl" was ceremoniously opened on Saturday. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (both ÖVP) emphasized the importance of the project, which not only offers space for various volunteers, but also indicates the need for faster reactions in times of crisis. Karner emphasized that short distances are of great advantage in an emergency, a learning process that last year's flood disaster illustrated. This new center is thus seen as a model for other municipalities in Lower Austria, as reported noe.orf.at .
The construction period for the "Forum Silberbichl" was around two years, and the total costs amount to around 20 million euros. In addition to the opening, the groundbreaking ceremony for the second construction phase took place, which will cost a further seven million euros. Among other things, this expansion will include a farm, storage space for clubs and other common rooms. According to Governor Mikl-Leitner, the community center represents a "lighthouse project" that exudes far beyond the borders of the district. She pointed out that the clubs and volunteers play an essential role in society, such as noe.gv.at reports .
In the new center, the police, fire brigade, music school, men's singing club and traditional band have already found their place. The event hall offers space for 200 people and can be used for various events. The architects have also placed value on sustainable construction methods, including photovoltaic systems. These measures show that Mautern is a growth community that invests in its expansion in order to meet the needs of its citizens. Father Clemens Reischl blessed the new premises, which gives the project an additional symbolic meaning.
