New community center Forum Silberbichl” opens – a meeting place!

The new community center “Forum Silberbichl” was ceremoniously opened in Mautern an der Donau on Saturday. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (both ÖVP) emphasized the importance of the project, which not only offers space for various voluntary organizations, but also points out the need for quick reactions in times of crisis. Karner emphasized that short routes are of great advantage in an emergency, a learning process that was illustrated by last year's flood disaster. This new center is therefore seen as a model for other communities in Lower Austria, such as noe.orf.at reports.

The construction time for the “Forum Silberbichl” took around two years and the total costs amount to around 20 million euros. In addition to the opening, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the second construction phase, which will cost a further seven million euros. This expansion will include, among other things, a farm yard, storage areas for clubs and other common rooms. According to State Governor Mikl-Leitner, the community center represents a “lighthouse project” that radiates far beyond the district’s borders. The police, fire department, music school, men's choir and traditional costume band have already found their place in the new center. The event hall offers space for 200 people and can be used for a wide variety of events. The architects also placed emphasis on sustainable construction methods, including photovoltaic systems. These measures show that Mautern is a growing community that is investing in its expansion to meet the needs of its citizens. Father Clemens Reischl blessed the new premises, which gives the project additional symbolic meaning.
