In a moving event at the high school on Willmsstraße, which was dedicated to the topic of democracy education, around 140 students were introduced to the multifaceted world of protests and uprisings. Friday was all about the “Protest # uprising # Transformation” project, which stimulated the students to discuss the various aspects of protest and their historical background. A highlight was the report of the contemporary witness Mario Röllig, who urged his experiences in the GDR and his attempts to escape. Röllig, who was born in East Berlin in 1967, described his arrest by the Stasi and his three-month-old isolation in the notorious Berlin-Hohenschönhausen prison, where he experienced psychological agony.
