Serious frontal crash on the L200: Two injured in Alberschwende!

On December 23, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L200 near Alberschwende, which resulted in two injuries and a total closure of the route. The incident took place shortly after 4 p.m., about one kilometer from the town center in the Bühel district. Three vehicles were involved in the accident: an Audi, a Mini and a Kia. The person who caused the accident, a 22-year-old German, crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons.

According to initial investigations, there was initially contact with the Kia, whose driver is a 38-year-old Austrian woman. This was followed by a head-on collision with the Mini, in which a 59-year-old Austrian and his 57-year-old passenger were. The latter suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to hospital. The drivers of the Audi and the Kia were uninjured, but were in shock.

Course of the accident and deployment of the fire department

The Alberschwende fire department was on site with 20 emergency services and three vehicles to secure the accident site and contain any leaking liquids. They also assisted in towing the vehicles. Due to the necessary accident investigation and street cleaning, the L200 had to be closed in both directions, which led to significant backlogs in the area.

The exact cause of the accident is currently unclear. The road surface was wet and wintry at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the incident. An expert was commissioned to reconstruct the course of the accident.
