Snow chaos in the Märkisches Kreis: 250 fire brigade operations and streets closed!

On Thursday, January 10, 2025, the snow deep "Charly" in the Märkisches Kreis caused considerable disorders and numerous operations by the fire brigade. The Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) stopped bus traffic throughout the area on Thursday at 12:00 p.m., but was able to resume it at 1:00 p.m., with travelers to expect delays until around 2:00 p.m. Current closures include the K8 - Selscheid in Plettenberg and the L698 on Kohlberg between Altena and Neuenrade. There were several stuck trucks on the federal road 237 in Kierspe, and trucks have also been crossed in Iserlohn, which further tightened the traffic situation.

The German Weather Service warned until evening of continuing snow and frost. The amount of snow is estimated between 5 and 10 cm, even up to 15 cm in storage. In view of these conditions, drivers are asked to drive particularly carefully.
