Dangerous fabric leak on A1: Fire brigade saves the location!

In the afternoon of February 26, 2025, the fire brigade was called to a dangerous pollution on the A1 West Autobahn near the Schallerburg rest area. There, a viscous, unknown substance occurred from an unsecured truck train, which quickly contaminated a larger area of the parking lot. Alarmed by the Melk motorway police, this immediately secured the area, while the specialists from the Melk fire brigade arrived to reduce the impending danger. Dawurde also brought in the ASFINAG, which came with a large amount of binders, which was used to cover the expiring liquid to prevent further penetration into the sewer system.

According to intensive studies, the emergency services found a damaged 200 liter barrel on the loading area of the truck, which was the source of the dangerous substance. With a lot of tact, the firefighters managed to turn the barrel around and stop the liquid. In the meantime, the pollutant group of the St. Pölten fire brigade has been re -alerted, which brought a special stainless steel barrel to secure the contaminated material. After the transfer of the damaged barrel into the robust metal barrel, the residues were securely closed, which neutralized the acute danger.

effective binding agent for damage limitation

In order to fully remove the pollution, a special disposal company was hired for the professional takeover and disposal of the defective barrel. Afterwards, the fire brigade again ensured the use of binders in the contaminated area, which is removed by ASFINAG after the end of the operation and disposed of environmentally friendly. Binders play a crucial role in such emergencies because they help to quickly absorb dangerous liquids such as oils and chemicals and thus minimize a broad effect. The selection ranges from suction-strong fine grain oil binders to special chemicals, which are designed for the reliable handling of aggressive fabrics, such as Security fire protection technology.de
