Fire drama in Vienna: injured resident fights for his life!
There were two fire-threatening incidents in Vienna on Sunday that required the fire brigade to be called in. The owner of an attic apartment in a residential building on Landstrasse was injured in a fire of undetermined severity. Closed roller shutters hampered extinguishing work and the smoke from the fire quickly spread to the upper floors. After concerned neighbors alerted the fire department via the emergency call, the emergency services immediately went to the fire apartment on the seventh floor. The injured man was looked after there and then transported to the hospital by the Vienna professional rescue team ORF Vienna reported.

At the same time, another fire occurred in Laimgrubengasse, in which a man was also injured. According to initial reports, residents noticed a smell of fire and immediately called the fire department. The resident was able to leave his apartment, but injured himself and inhaled toxic fumes. When the fire brigade arrived, smoke was already coming from the window of the affected apartment. Firefighters immediately began providing oxygen to the man while extinguishing the fire. A high-performance ventilation device was used to ventilate the stairwell and the fire apartment. Here, too, several apartments next to the fire apartment were broken into for inspection the Federal Fire Brigade Association reported.
The investigation into the cause of the fire in both cases is still ongoing. The fire department ensured that all adjacent apartments were checked and ventilated to minimize the dangers of smoke or further fire.
