The 62-year-old Austrian owner was busy sealing the inner walls of the Stadel with foam and heated the room with a gas oven. Suddenly he noticed flames on the ground and reacted quickly: he threw the oven outside, but the fire spread quickly. This led to the explosion of two gas bottles stored in the Stadel. The 69-year-old homeowner, also a member of the volunteer fire brigade, discovered the fire in the basement and made an extinguishing attempt. Due to suspicion of slight flue gas poisoning, he was brought to the hospital in Reutte for examination. The Weißenbach volunteer fire brigade was quickly on site and was able to successfully extinguish the fire.
