Siberian spruces conquer the living room: a new Christmas tree trend!

Klocksdorf, Deutschland - The Christmas tree season 2024 took an interesting turn! A new trend has established itself in the municipality of Königsfeld: the Siberian spruce has become a secret favorite. At times the Nordmann fir dominated the sales figures, but the slimmer spruce often fits better into the cozy living room corners, according to the Christmas tree breeder Eckhard Scherwinski, who offers its trees in Bülow. This year he in particular brings big spruces with two meters and more to Bülow, where they are sold to the residents by active citizens. However, a surprising turnaround shows that the demand for smaller trees has increased, although larger specimens have initially been favored. Even on December 24th, buyers come again and again, reports Scherwinski, who delivers his trees directly home.

Christmas tree production in Switzerland looks optimistically into the future

An urgent topic, however, remains the price pressure through import trees, especially from Denmark. This challenge accompanies the producers every year, but belonging to a regional supply and the freshness of the local trees keep the demand stable. According to Häberli, many customers give the Swiss trees preferred due to shorter transport routes and the guaranteed freshness. The Swiss Christmas tree producers currently see the chance of increasing demand for local trees due to the corona experiences, which could have a positive effect on the sale, as the farmers' newspaper reported.

It remains crucial for the producers to cut the trees at the right time to ensure the best quality for the holidays, while the hosts in the living rooms of the municipality of Königsfeld look forward to their festive trees.
