Austria's hope at the ESC: JJ brings pop opera to Basel with heart!

Basel, Schweiz - The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be exciting! Vienna born countertenor JJ, with a full name Johannes Pietsch, is represented in Basel. His song "Wasted Love", a "popper", combines dramatic sounds with personal experiences about unrequited love. In cooperation with Thomas Turner and the former ESC participant Teya, the song was created, which was designed as a love drama. JJ, who is currently also performing in the Vienna State Opera and plays the role of the first boy in the "Magic Flute", is convinced: "My heart beats for the big show, and there is nothing bigger than the Eurovision Song Contest." The small newspaper reported this.

The official premiere of the song will take place on Thursday at 7:40 a.m. in the Ö3 "Wecker", followed by the associated music video at 8:20 a.m. in "Good morning Austria". JJ will appear in the second semi -finals on May 15 and is determined to leave an unforgettable impression. Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, program director at ORF, emphasizes JJ as an exceptional talent and is convinced that he can conquer the stage with his mix of rousing pop and classic singing. These details were reported by ORF.

The way to the song Contest

The decision to select JJ as an Austrian contribution was made by a multi -stage selection process. Talent scouts searched the domestic music scene and after a songwriting camp a 30-member jury was called to select the best songs. Through this procedure, JJ emerged as the ideal candidate in order to secure another opportunity for Austria after Nemo's previous victory with "The Code" in Switzerland.

The 37 participating countries, including Montenegros' return, promise an exciting musical experience. According to the controversy of the past year, the organizers have introduced strict rules of conduct to guarantee a fair environment. In Basel, strict requirements can be expected that will commit both artists and delegation members to behave fairly. The excitement around the event is fueled by the mixture of exciting talents, such as the Israeli participant Juval Rafael, who brings her moving history into competition.
