New Chancellor Stocker: Focus on challenge and responsibility!

Wien, Österreich - Vienna shaken by a dramatic political change: Alexander Schallenberg today took over the official business as the new Chancellor and kept his first speech. At the ceremonial handover, the outgoing Chancellor Karl Nehammer Schallenberg handed over responsibility with the handshake, whereby he gave him quotes that were shaped by a "prudence" and "straightness". Schallenberg explained that he was aware of the "great responsibility" and that the challenges in front of him would be "big and extensive". His goal is to "do the right thing for us and our country", as OE24 reported.

As the debates in the National Council show, political turbulence is far from over. While Schallenberg continues to rule "with a quiet hand", the opinions on the failed coalition negotiations between the ÖVP, the SPÖ and the NEOS will collapse. parlament.gv.at reports that the MPs shed light on the explosiveness of the situation and remember that a government under the leadership of the FPÖ could bring significant changes in the future of Austria. Schallenberg warned the negotiating partners of an attitude that he described as "Scots" mentality and called for the retention of the rule of law and media freedom.

In the meantime, the tensions within the political landscape are noticeable: ÖVP boss Christian Stocker accused the SPÖ to take responsibility for the failure of the negotiations. In particular, the refusal of the SPÖ to find a fair compromise was the focus of his criticism. The NEOs also appreciate the need for a comprehensive reform to improve the processed economic situation and address the country's debt burden. The new Chancellor Schallenberg, on the other hand, emphasized Austria's international responsibility and that the country had to remain a stable partner in Europe. However, a clear direction is not yet foreseeable, and that makes the political future of Austria more turbulent than ever.
