Macron presents the radiant Notre-Dame: a masterpiece of resurrection!
The world is watching the reopened Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris! After the devastating fire of 2019, which reduced the iconic structure to rubble and ashes, the cathedral now shines in new splendor. President Emmanuel Macron on Friday inspected the impressive renovations, which were carried out with a whopping budget of 700 million euros. Live broadcasts showcased the stunning stained glass windows, immaculate stonework and majestic ceilings - a true feast for the eyes!
The restoration, carried out by around 2,000 professionals from 150 countries, has returned the 19th century Gothic lace to its original splendor. Macron had set himself the ambitious goal of rebuilding the cathedral within five years and making it “even more beautiful than before.” On December 7, 2024, the cathedral will officially reopen, and expectations are high: visitor numbers could rise from 12 million in 2017 to 14-15 million!
A masterpiece of restoration
The Catholic Church has emphasized that access to the cathedral should remain free to raise entrance fees despite considerations. A secret system of pipes has been installed to release millions of water drops in the event of another fire. While the preparations for reopening are in full swing, the list of invited world leaders remains a secret. Surprisingly, Pope Francis announced that he will not take part in the celebration, which causes a stir in view of the youngest scandals in the French church.
“We look forward to welcoming the whole world under our roof,” said Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich. The return of Notre Dame is not only an architectural miracle, but also a symbol of hope and reconstruction after tragedy. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with initial indications pointing to an accident. Once dubbed the “building site of the century,” the cathedral is now ready to rewrite its history!
