Kickl chose Austria: he stays away from the inauguration!

FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl will not take part in Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20 in Washington. According to Kickl, his responsibility for Austria is now a priority. "Austria first, that also applies to me in this case," he said, while he focuses on home in view of the financial challenges and the need for EU deficit proceedings. Kickl emphasizes that the renovation of the state budget is hard but necessary to secure a stable future for the country. In order to show his presence, Kickl will send a representation for inauguration, in which numerous partly extremely right politicians will take part, such as oe24.at reported.

In the meantime, Kickl has accepted the challenge of forming a new government, which the FPÖ could put at the top of Austrian politics, a remarkable change after it has been lacking progress in government formation in recent months. After the election in September 2024, where the FPÖ achieved 28.8% of the votes, the political landscape was proceeding because the other parties were not willing to coalize with the FPÖ under Kickl. As a result of the difficulties in the negotiations on the formation of government, the former Chancellor Karl Nehammer resigned on Saturday. President Alexander Van der Bellen then turned to Kickl to negotiate a possible coalition, such as AP news reported.

Kickl's provocative style and the political challenges

Herbert Kickl is known for his provocative style and his sharp statements, which often make him in the headlines. As a former interior minister and campaign strategist, he has earned a reputation that polarizes both supporters and opponents. Despite his populist views, which also include pro-Russian tendencies, he has publicly distanced himself from extreme positions, including anti-Semitism. However, the challenges with which he is confronted could have far -reaching political consequences, especially at a time when Europe is struggling with internal tensions and public perception of extremism.
