Karlsruhe becomes the festival capital: European Festival Summit 2023!

Karlsruhe becomes the scene of the European festival events! From November 18th to 20th, festival organizers and event professionals from all over Europe will gather in the Tollhaus for the European Festival Summit. Organized by YOUROPE and Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH, the meeting is all about the future of festivals. "We are very happy to welcome the European festival family to Karlsruhe. We are all facing major challenges that we can only solve together," explains Martin Wacker, Managing Director of Karlsruhe Marketing and Event GmbH.

The event promises exciting insights with 24 events, including lectures and discussions on burning topics such as artificial intelligence and extreme weather. The summit begins on Monday evening with a sociable get-together and attracts over 200 participants from more than 20 countries. "DAS FEST not only remains a role model in terms of sustainability and conveying values, but is also capable of learning about innovations. This summit is therefore an important building block in the future strategy of the largest cultural festival in southern Germany," adds Wacker.

A look into the future of festivals

The European Festival Summit is the culmination of the EU-funded 3F Future – Fit Festivals project. This discusses how festivals can be made more responsible and resilient in the future to ensure their central role in the lives of young people in Europe. The continuation of the project has already been approved for the next four years, which underlines the urgency and relevance of the topics. An event that not only brings the festival industry together, but also sets the course for the future!
