News of spring: Discover the most exciting ice creations in 2025!

A new day, a new ice cream! Austria starts with a tempting selection of ice creations in the 2024 season. The focus is on the “coffee” as an ice cream variety of the year, officially announced by Andrew Nussbaumer, a spokesman for the ice salon operator in the Austria Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ). The ice cream café "Bortolotti" on Mariahilferstraße in Vienna was the scene of this festive kick-off, where the diverse and invigorating variety of coffee was presented. Ice lovers can look forward to an exciting “coffee ice week” from April 29 to May 5, 2024, which is celebrated in many Eissalons nationwide, as well as the “children's ice weeks” between June 24th and July 7th.

a festival of taste experiences

But that's not all that the ice season has to offer in Austria. In addition to coffee, there are also innovative flavors such as the Tiramisu ice cream creation, which is reminiscent of the cultural heritage "one night in Venice". In addition, the blue Stracciatella ice cream with a golden glitter-a tribute to the "beautiful blue Danube". Salon operator Silvio Molin-Prodel promises that the creativity of the ice makers knows no limits. This becomes the special highlight of the Holy Year 2025, in which the European ice cream variety of the year, "Hallelujah", with Giaduja ice cream and roasted hazelnuts in Rome is introduced, such as Kleine Zeitung reported.

The season is enriched by various programs. The “Gelaton the Road” project, supported by the EU, makes the ice creations travel all over Europe and promotes the manual production of ice cream. "The weather plays in the cards," explains Nussbaumer, pointing out that the warmer temperatures often enable the ice cream parlors for a month longer opening times. St. Anna Children's Cancer Research also benefits from the support of the ice salon operators with well -known donations. In 2024, 5,760 euros have already been collected, as Falstaff reported.
