Court condemns eight accomplices in the murder case Samuel Paty!
A teacher was brutally murdered in Paris in 2020 - now the masterminds have been condemned!
In a shattering judgment, a French court condemned eight people for their role in the cruel murder of Samuel Paty, a teacher who showed caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed during a teaching discussion. The case has shaken all of France and rekindled the debate about freedom and hatred on the Internet.
The Pariser Special Criminal Chamber expressed the judgments on Friday, which range from one year to 16 years in prison. The accused were found guilty of organizing a hate campaign that ended in the brutal beheading of the 47-year-old teacher. The perpetrator, an 18-year-old Russian of Chechen origin, was shot by the police at the crime scene.
The masterminds of crime
Among the convicts are Naim Boudaoud, 22, and Azim Epsirkhanov, 23, both of whom received 16 years in prison. Boudaoud was accused of driving the attacker Abdoullakh Anzorov to school while Epsirkhanov helped him get weapons. Their deeds have made the extent of violence and the influence of online hatred clear.
Abdelhakim Sefrioui, a 65-year-old Muslim preacher, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for organizing an online hate campaign against Paty and denouncing it as a "racket" in a video. His lawyer announced that it would appeal against the judgment.
Brahim Chnina, 52, received 13 years in prison for his connection to a "terrorist company". He had published videos in which he mistakenly claimed Paty had punished his daughter because she had complained about the lessons, named the name of the teacher and the school.
The other four defendants, who were part of a network of sympathizers of Auforov, were also convicted. They had spread online and thus contributed to the escalation.
a judgment with consequences
"Nobody says that they wanted Samuel Paty to die," said prosecutor Nicholas Braconnay in court. "But by having lit thousands of ignition cords online, they knew that one of them would lead to ... violence against the blasphemic teacher."
The verdict marks the end of the Paty process. Last year, Chnina's daughter was sentenced to a planned conspiracy with five other young people for participation, which served to prepare an assault.
gaelle Paty, the murdered teacher's sister, commented on the verdict and relieved: "To hear the word 'guilty' - that was what I needed," she told the reporters before the court. Her voice broke when she spoke of the painful memories.
The reactions of the families' reactions were shocking: Gasps, screams and ironic clapping echoed through the courtroom, which made the judge several times to ask for peace. "They lied through my brother," called a relative. Another woman, crying, called: "You took my baby" before she was accompanied by police officers from the courtroom.
