Investigations against PSG President: Al-Khelaifi under pressure!

Renewing turbulence for PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi: The French judiciary investigates him for possible influence and aid for abuse of office. The Qatarian official faces serious allegations that are related to a power struggle at the French mixed group Lagardère from 2018. At that time, the company boss Arnaud Lagardère apparently tried to secure his position by influencing the voice behavior of an influential catarian major shareholder in whose board of directors Al-Khelaifi, as the reporting of oe24 and KA-News confirmed.

The allegations are strictly denied by Al-Khelaifi and the Qatarian major shareholder, which assert that the PSG boss had no decision-making over the shares in Lagardère. These developments have already led to diplomatic tensions between Qatar and France. It is even assumed that Qatar is considering possible withdrawals from investments from French sport if the situation should continue to worsen.

Al-Khelaifi is no stranger to the judiciary. He was already the focus of past investigations, including in connection with the awarding of the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships, which were, however, discontinued. He is also being investigated on suspicion of kidnapping and deprivation of liberty, which is said to involve a French-Algerian lobbyist. In all cases, Al-Khelaifi has denied the allegations and defended himself by filing a complaint.
