In a thrilling encounter, FC Porto defeated German club 1899 Hoffenheim 2-0 and catapulted themselves to 15th place in the Europa League group stage. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, suffered severe setbacks and slipped to a disappointing 18th place. The first half was even, but Hoffenheim couldn't find the goal despite several chances. In dramatic fashion, Porto decided the game in first-half stoppage time when Tiago Djaló converted a free kick. Samu Omorodion then scored the final point in the 75th minute.
