Russia under pressure: US MPs call for sharper sanctions!

In the United States, the draft law causes headlines to implement sanctions against Russia. The two Republican US MPs, Senator Lindsey Graham and MP Brian Fitzpatrick, have announced that they can link their initiative with a law to finance the government in order to advance the sanctions. According to the information from Small newspaper, the draft law aims primarily on secondary sanctions against countries such as India and China if they continue to buy Russian oil.

The MPs were announced on Saturday. Graham and Fitzpatrick emphasize that a combination of sanctions, tariffs and the sale of American weapons to Ukraine is crucial to move Russian President Vladimir Putin to a fair peace. The bill has been up for several months, but had been delayed due to the hesitation of President Donald Trump in the imposition of sanctions. Trump currently prefers tariffs from India, the second largest buyer from Russian oil to China, instead of direct sanctions.

Political dynamics and negotiations

The preliminary budget regulation could enable MPs to actually implement their plan to implement the sanctions. Graham and Fitzpatrick welcomed Trump's statement that the United States was willing to impose new energy rates, provided that NATO countries would all stop buying Russian oil. These political maneuvers reflect the complex negotiations that are necessary to achieve a uniform attitude towards Russia and its economic activities.

At the same time, there is another problem on the table: dealing with migrants and the legal challenges associated with it. A case that is currently being treated by the US judge Tanya Chutkan shows how the Trump government tries to carry out deportations from Nigeria and Gambia to Ghana. Chutkan has convened an urgency meeting and is faced with the question of whether the statutory requirements of the United States are observed in these deportations.

Sanctions and their effects

In a broader context, the European countries also took measures against Russia, as from the Federal Ministry of Economics emerges. The EU's 14th sanction package includes a ban on activity for transport companies that are at least 25 percent owned by a Russian natural or legal person. This regulation is intended to ensure that Russian companies are increasingly isolated in international trade.

The sanctions are aimed directly at the companies concerned, but there is no obligation for other companies to check their ownership. Such measures represent a central strategy to reduce Russia's influence on the international market and at the same time protect the EU and its partners' security interests.
