Vienna under pressure: Court of Auditors calls for immediate reforms in care and energy!

The Vienna People's Party raises the alarm: The current reports of the Auditors' Court show a massive failure in the system, both in energy supply as well as in the health and care sector. Club chairman Markus Wölbitsch and municipal councilor Kasia Greco call for immediate reforms to remedy the proven defects. In its latest report, the Court of Auditors confirmed serious control failures, which led to billions of risks at Vienna Energie. Wölbitsch denounces: "If the city's largest energy supplier suddenly needs billions in amounts to survive, it is a clear system failure." The poor basis for decision -making, which led to these financial bottlenecks, was simply irresponsible - inadequate risk management is ultimately accused of the city government as a systemic problem.

reform requirement in care

But not only in the energy sector is urgent need for action. The situation is also critical in the care sector. The Court of Auditors emphasizes that despite efforts, problems such as lack of staff and split financing have not been able to solve since 2020. In a recently published report, the auditors warn that essential recommendations have continued to be ignored. Greco emphasizes: "The structural deficiencies in the health and care sector are unmistakable. The award practice in the Vienna Health Association is completely non-transparent, and the personnel requirement remains dramatic." According to the Court of Auditors, 72,900 nurses in Austria are missing by 2030. In the meantime

The two municipal councils require concrete measures to implement the proposals of the Court of Auditors. "The city government must act immediately to fix systematic problems and create necessary transparency," said Wölbitsch and Greco. While experts attest to the need for far -reaching reforms, the politicians observe exactly whether those responsible in Vienna take the current reports seriously or whether they end up in the sand again, as in the past. This would not only be a blow to the administration, but also a risk to the quality of life of the Viennese citizens who earn a responsible policy.

The Court of Auditors clearly states that the situation in nursing cannot get better without comprehensive laws and binding measures. It remains to be seen whether the city government does justice to this responsibility, while people in Vienna hope for improvements in these decisive areas.
