Wonder of the deep sea: light and life in the dark ocean world!
In the mysterious darkness of the deep sea, a fascinating life blooms that even exceeds the wildest ideas! The Kiel photographer and marine biologist Solvin Zankl has spent over 25 years to document the miracles of the oceans. From Sunday, November 10th, he will present his breathtaking recordings in the special exhibition "Wonder of the Tiefsee" in the Eckernförder Museum. This exhibition shows the beauty and the secret of the deepest regions of the earth, where creatures exist in shocking shapes and colors.
The exhibition reveals the secrets of one of the largest and least researched ecosystems on earth. Zankl's pictures show not only the breathtaking variety of deep sea creatures, but also the challenges that they face. "The animals live under extreme conditions where the pressure of thousands of meters is on them on them," explains Zankl. The audience is confronted with bizarre creatures, such as flea cancer, which pushes its descendants in an empty salt pine housing like in a stroller through the dark waters - a creepy but fascinating performance!

The exhibition also shows how the deep-sea algae shine as soon as a fish swims past, and draws parallels to the struggles for survival and dominance that also take place on land. "The deep sea fishing make arms on the teeth," says Zankl. "Anyone who has the longer teeth eats first!" But despite the dark reality of climate change and garbage pollution, which can be found even at 11,000 meters, there is also hope. "Nature survives," emphasizes Zankl. "We saw tuna in the North and Baltic Sea again."
The opening of the exhibition takes place in the presence of Solvin Zankl. Visitors can look forward to exciting lectures and tours that offer a deep insight into the fascinating world of deep sea. Be there and discover the miracles that are hidden in the dark!
