Bird strike incident: Lufthansa flight has to make an emergency landing in Munich!

A nightmarish experience for passengers on a Lufthansa flight: On the way from Frankfurt to Salzburg, they involuntarily became overnight sleepers in Munich! Due to a horrific bird strike, an essential system on the aircraft failed. It was a huge shock when the alarm bells sounded!

Normally the flight only lasts about an hour, but late in the evening on October 19, the plane with 96 travelers on board had to spend almost two hours in the air due to technical problems before the crew made the crucial choice: to head to Munich Airport after midnight. The absolutely dramatic moment came during the descent when the crew could no longer read the speed correctly!

Emergency call and quick decisions!

The situation became so serious that the crew issued a “Mayday” distress call. The Lufthansa spokeswoman explained that a bird strike led to the alarm and damage to the airliner. Maps show how the Airbus 319 circled over Salzburg before setting course for Munich and landing there safely at 12:17 a.m. after the ban on night flights.

Due to the ban on night flights, only limited landings are normally permitted in Munich. But in such critical situations, an emergency landing can take place at any time to ensure the safety of everyone on board. After landing, however, it immediately became clear: the crew informed the passengers about the technical failures and the emergency landing in Munich, which will remain in the memory of everyone involved for a long time!
