On December 26, 2025, a tragic accident occurred in Lungau in which a 46-year-old Romanian vacationer fell from the balcony of an apartment building in Ramingstein. Initial investigations revealed that there was no evidence of foul play and that the holidaymaker was apparently drunk at the time of the fall.
The fatal fall was witnessed by bystanders. Immediate resuscitation measures were initiated by a doctor present. Despite rapid medical intervention, which was also supported by an emergency doctor, the man died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor's office released the body for burial after the investigation was completed, and members of the tour group and witnesses were looked after by the Red Cross crisis intervention team.
