Racism incident in the stadium: Erfurt's Awoudja fights for a sign!

In an exciting duel in the Northeast Football Regional League, FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt achieved a 2-1 win against FSV 63 Luckenwalde on Sunday afternoon. But the triumph was overshadowed by a shocking incident: Maxime Awoudja, Erfurt's 26-year-old central defender, was racially insulted by a spectator during the game. “Yes, of course,” he heard the hurtful words that made him angry, as he explained in an interview with Ostsport.TV.

The incident occurred shortly after the restart, and the stadium announcer reacted immediately by making it clear that there was no place for such insults in the Luckenwalde Stadium. FSV President Dirk Heinze supported this attitude and emphasized the tradition of the stadium. The situation escalated when other spectators reported the incident to the police, who then arrested the accused fan on site. Awoudja thanked the viewers for their support and emphasized the importance of taking a stand against racism.

Maxime Awoudja: A climb with obstacles

Despite the negative experience on the pitch, Awoudja showed his class: He scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute and made a decisive contribution to his team's victory. Previously, FSV captain Lucas Vierling had given the hosts the lead in the 36th minute with a spectacular long-range shot. Only eleven minutes after the equalizer, Obed Chidingu Ugondu finally put the Thuringians on the road to victory. Awoudja, who began his football training at FC Bayern and was promoted to the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart in 2020, once again demonstrated his strong nerves and tireless fighting spirit.
