Star singers enchant Fulda: blessings and donations in the pub district!

On Saturday evening, January 13, 2025, several events related to traditional star singing took place at Friedrichstrasse 22 in Fulda. The adult star singers of the Diocese of Fulda had the motto “Disgrace & Cash” and set themselves the goal of collecting donations and bringing the blessing of the newborn Christ into homes. The participants wore golden crowns and had stars with them. The blessings “20*C+M+B+25” were placed on the doors, where “C”, “M” and “B” stand for “Christus mansionem benedicat”, and the numbers represent the year 2025.

The event began in the parish hall with a briefing, practice singing and a prayer. Among the 12 men and women taking part were community leader Markus Wüllner and Sister Maria, while city priest Stefan Buß joined the group later. The action was accompanied by reporter Wolfgang Zündel from hr television. The tradition of star singing for adults has existed since 2016 and was initially controversial. The aim of star singing is to spread the star's message in bars and restaurants and to collect money for children in need. The donations are intended to support children's projects in South America and Kenya and focus on children's rights and raising awareness of the plight of children worldwide. Many innkeepers donated drinks for the participants.

Star singing campaign of the parish of St. Franziskus Fulda

The star singing campaign of the parish of St. Franziskus Fulda took place from 10 to 12 January 2025 under the motto "Live your voice for children's rights". Children and adolescents brought the blessing to the houses and collected donations for disadvantaged children. Due to vacation times, not all roads could be visited. Seated stickers and donation bags were prepared in the churches. The campaign ended with thanksgiving in St. Bonifatius, St. Lukas and Niesig.

The star singer campaign is considered the world's largest aid campaign by children for children. Every year around 300,000 children and young people in Germany move from house to house around January 6th. The blessing “20*C+M+B+25” stands for “Christus Mansionem Benedicat – Christ bless this house”. The sending out ceremony of the parishes of St. Boniface and St. Luke took place on January 10th at 1:30 p.m. in St. Luke. Pastor Markus Agricola blessed the children and young people in magnificent robes. The Thanksgiving Mass on January 11th at 5:00 p.m. in St. Bonifatius and High Mass on January 12th at 9:00 a.m. in Niesig followed. The blessing was then brought to the households. Further information and the donation results can be found on the parish website.
