Stau-chaos in the ski area: drivers must be patient at construction sites!

A true traffic chaos developed on Saturday morning, February 8, in the ski areas of Western Austria. Traffic traffic, especially in Tyrol, Salzburg and Styria, led to considerable traffic jams. Drivers on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) had to endure up to an hour in front of the construction site between Golling and throw in both directions. According to 5min.at , relaxation of the situation is only expected in the afternoon.

The main roads were particularly affected. On the A12 Inn Valley Autobahn, which leads towards Germany, there was already a traffic from Kirchbichl. Various state roads, such as the B179 Fernpassstraße between Nasserith and the Fernpass as well as the B180 Reschenstraße between Tösens and Prutz, were also overloaded. In addition, the B186 Ötztalstraße in the direction of A12, from Köfels, recorded considerable backlog, as the ÖAMTC reports in a current message ( OT.com ).

traffic jam hotspots in Salzburg and Styria

The B311 Pinzgauer Straße and the B159 Salzachtalstrasse were particularly affected by large traffic jams in Salzburg. Drivers had to expect longer waiting times between Bischofshofen and Golling. Also on Ennstalstrasse (B320) in Styria there was a stalling traffic towards Liezen between Schladming and Pruggern. The traffic jams in the region once again show that holiday periods and weather conditions represent relevant factors for travel.

With the announced recovery phases in the afternoon, which promise an easier passage, it remains to be hoped that the situation will soon relax. Nevertheless, the current traffic situation requires special patience from all vacationers: inside.
